Pastor’s Corner
‘When the call is made up yonder I will be there’. Famous words from a Christian song and to be there, all we have to do is accept Yeshua as Lord and Saviour. [Romans 10:9] It is the call we pray that the One we know and love will answer. The call is free and you are never put on hold. It does not matter whether you go to Church or don’t go to Church, as long as the call is answered you will be saved.
This morning I had the sad task of telling someone that her husband had suddenly died. It was not a task I chose but it is one I will never forget. The denial, the yelling and the tears is something that will stay with me for a very long time. The one thing this experience has confirmed to me is the ministry put before us. [Matthew 28:19].
We need to confess Yeshua and live the new Born Again life, as we do not know the day or the hour the Lord will call us home. [Revelation 3:3]. This dear friend had struggled with bad health for a while but the peace we can have in his sudden passing is that he had answered the call and accepted the truth of the Word at the time of the passing of his first wife. The Lord tells us He will come like a thief in the night, [1 Thessalonians 5:2]. His voice will call and those in Him will go home to be with Him. [1 Corinthians 1:8]. The Word warns us against false talk that could create un-forgiveness [141:3] Yeshua warns us about unforgiveness in our hearts [Matthew 18:22] He warns us to be always ready, keeping watch [Matthew 25:13] and walking the lives He requires of us [Psalm 24:3-4] to be able to enter into His rest. [Hebrews 4:8-11] His Word is truth [John 17:17] it is there for all to realise this and benefit from it. [2 Timothy 3:16] People say they believe in Yeshua and even believe in His word. [Exodus 4:1] But we have to take that next big step that goes beyond just belief, and believe Yeshua and believe His Word. [John 10:38]. We never know when the trumpet will sound for us. We never know what we will have to face tomorrow. [Matthew 6:34] Without His strength we are just a person, but with the Lord in our hearts we are never alone when the whole world seems against us. [John 15:20]. The Word is more powerful than a two edged sword cutting through to the truth in all matters. [Hebrew 4:12] We look forward to the Great Kingdom to come but in the meantime we have to live our lives in the here and now. [Matthew 6:32-33] This is the reality of life, yes there is a prize to come, and yes there are promises within the Word and it is a fact we need to take hold of them when times get tough. [Psalm 119:105] God is in control and it is that control that we can and do rely on to give us the strength to face tomorrow. The Word clearly states give todays troubles to Yeshua, [Matthew 11:28-30] then we can face tomorrow when it comes. He is the Saviour of our souls, [Psalm 68:19] He is the Blessed redeemer and He is the peace that passes all understanding. [Philippians 4:7] Let us step out and give the people, our friends, and our relatives the number of the one calling. If we answer the call it will be answered with a promise, which is that all those who call upon the Lord will be saved [Joel 2:32] through the Son who died on the Cross and rose from the grave to give eternal life. [Revelation 1:17-18].
