When I look back at the 1950’s when the people had had enough of war and violence and just want to get on with life, a life where all could live in peace with each other, houses were left unlocked when you went out and cars were left unlocked when you arrived at your destination. What a beautiful time this was, but now this time is being criticized as being boring and out of touch with reality. Of course the 1950’s was not perfect but people went to Church and learnt the Biblical basis to life, Love God and love thy neighbour.  [Matthew 22:39-40] So today we have just the opposite where people just do as they like without a care for anybody else. It is anything goes, but what does the Bible say about this type of lifestyle of hating everyone? and it is hatred in the actions of the world today and not love.
But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them. 1 John 2:11
The world is in darkness, the light has been fading over the years and the eyes of the people have slowly adapted to the darkness. In doing this they have forgotten what the light is like.
And this is the test by which men are judged--the Light has come into the world,
and men loved the darkness more than they loved the Light, John 3:19
It is time to turn the Light back on, it is time to tell of the only Light that one day will be the only Light lighting up the Universe.
And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever. [Revelation 22:5]
This is the Light we can walk in now as the world plunges head first into total darkness. It is time to bring the Light back into the lives of His creation before it is too late for them to have time to adjust their eyes to the real Light, as there will be no time when Jesus returns. There will be no time for people to repent, as the Lord will arrive when we least expect Him to.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
2 Peter 3:10
We went through the Sixties with a rebellious spirit and into the present time sleepwalking, not taking notice of the things of God but trying to be one with the world.
Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15
It is time to wake to the realities of God, understanding that the things of this world will one day pass.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away...Mark 13:31
If this world will one day disappear then surely we should be looking towards the one to come, the New Heaven and the New Earth. for this is where our security lies.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had ceased to exist, and the sea existed no more. Revelation 21:1
And we have the security within God’s Word that all His prophecies will be fulfilled.
Grass dries up, and flowers wither, but the Word of our God will last forever."
  Isaiah 40:1:8

We may not need to return to the 50’s to start loving our neighbours but we do need to return to the Word of God to help us do so. Then and only then will we be ready for His return.

Walk by faith not by sight. [2 Corinthians 5:7] There are many people in the Bible who were told to act in faith and they are great examples to follow. Abraham was told to pack up and go into a world that to some ended at the horizon. [Genesis 12:1] What a daunting task that must have been, to take such a step of faith from a life of security to a life of uncertainty. We know from history that the paths in those days were plagued with robbers and murderers, but Abraham had faith in the unseen God, that whatever lay ahead at least he had been obedient to the call. When Lot said he would have the “good” area that they could see, Abraham once more went into the area he could not see. [Genesis 13:9]

Gideon has always been one of my favourites, he had security in 25,000 men at his side but God said it was too many.

“Send those who are afraid home,” [Judges 7:2-3] and yet he still had too many, too many to show the power of God, but even more so to show the faithfulness of God to His Word and to the World. Gideon ended up with just the right number required to surround the large enemy camp to carry out God’s plan and not his own.

As it was in the time of Joshua, with a great shout the enemy was destroyed before them as the walls of Jericho fell after the mighty blast of the Shofar and shouts went up to the Heavenlies. [Joshua 6:15-16]   Rahab was saved through faith in the promises she was given [Joshua 2:15-21] as Joshua and the Israelites took the city in that first step of faith into a foreign land. [Joshua 3:7-13]

Abraham’s step of faith was a new adventure whereas Gideon’s step of faith was in seeing the awesome power of God at work, something we all need to know and see at some stage of our Christian walk, at times of discouragement and attacks, wherever they may come from. Joshua’s faith was based on a promise God had given him. [Joshua 1:2-6]

David faced the giant in his life with the words, “I come in the name of the God of Israel”. In that name he was able to not only stand up to the giant, he was able to defeat him. [1 Samuel 17:45] We all face giants at one stage or another and they seem impossible to overcome, but by calling on the Name of the Lord we can obtain the victory.

I recall the time when we were living in Bethlehem Israel, two rock throwers were using my Penny and the blind ladies and the children as human shields as they looked for a chance to throw rocks at the soldiers. I managed to bundle them out of the compound and hold the gate shut to keep them out. One of them climbed up on the gate, which was about three metres high. I looked up and he was aiming his rock at my head. I told him, “In the name of Jesus put it down!” and he did, but again he lifted it and again I repeated my command. He put it down and left.
The Name Jesus/Yeshua will overcome all things and is our guide in all situations in any type of walk of faith that is required. [1 John 5:5]

Faith is a gift of God, [Romans 12:3] faith is not in something we can see but in what we cannot see. [Hebrews 11:1] Throughout the Bible and throughout Christian history men and women have stepped out in faith in the call of God. Every step we take in life is a step of faith; it is a step with no security. But a life lived in the security of the Living God has the security of Jesus, as He was the example for us all as He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. “May your will be done, not mine Father.” [Luke 22:42]

This is the faith we can walk in throughout our lives as we are saved by grace and live in faith, His faith. [Hebrews 10:38]

There is a term widely used in the Christian world, “He is the reason for the season.” The question is what season and for what reason? Surely Jesus came into the world to give a reason to every season. If we look to Jesus but once a year, what about the rest of the year? Did Jesus die for just the season of Passover or did His death have a greater and longer-term reason? [1 Peter 2:24]

In reading the first chapters of Ezekiel it is obvious something had to be done about the way people were sinning. [[]] But through all of this there was a hope that God would do something miraculous to save the people from their sins. [Isaiah 53] But when that day came, people who were the closest to the reason for life, Jesus, ran the fastest. [Matthew 26:69-75] The season is coming when the world goes into a charity mode whether they believe in Jesus or not. But is that the reason He came? That we have one big party once a year and the rest of the year we forget about what Jesus taught? The Bible says to help the poor and the widows [James 1:27] but does not put a time limit on that help to do it but once a year.

So Jesus came for more than the acts of kindness once a year, but came to set the captives free all year and forever. [Luke 4:18] But free from what? Poverty? we will always have the poor with us. [Mark 14:7] Helping the widows? We will always have widows with us. All these things Jesus commanded us to do [Matthew 25:45] but if we are rich in monetary terms we are poor in Spirit without Him. [Proverbs 16:14] If we are poor in monetary terms we can be rich in Spirit with Him in our lives. [Luke 6:20-26] This does not mean that rich people cannot have the richness of the Lord in their lives it just means we have to place all our possession into His hands. [Matthew 6:32-33]

There is a reason for the season and the season is with us always, [Matthew 28:20] the reason is to give eternal life to all who will confess His Name [Acts 16:31] and

proclaim Him as Lord of our lives, then we will be saved. [Romans 10:9] This is a requirement of every person who walks this planet, whether they are Jewish or Gentile it makes no difference. [Galatians 3:28] Because one day this season will end and a new season will begin. [Revelation 21:1]

The question still remains, we know where we are for this season but do we know where we will be for the one to come? Have we made ourselves ready? [Revelation 19:7] It is time for us to look at the reason, for taking stock of where we are in the great plan of God to save the world from itself. [John 3:16] Or was the death of the One who gives life in every season a waste of time effort and pain? [1 Corinthians 5:7] Jesus cried out from within His pain, “Father forgive them they know not what they do”. [Luke 23:34]

What the world did on that day was kill the Son of Man, [Luke 9:22] Messiah of the World, [Matthew 16:20] the One who came to redeem us by His Blood, [Revelation 5:9] the One who surrendered completely to the Father, [Luke 22:42] the One who died for you and me. This is what they did on that day so long ago.

Today we have a reason to celebrate because we know the next chapter of the story that He rose from the grave and went to be with the Father to prepare a place for us, His Bride. [John 14:3] That season is over and a new season will one day come. In the next season when Jesus appears He will not come as a helpless baby, He will not come as a suffering servant crying out, “forgive them”, He will come as a conquering King. [Revelation 5:5] We must remember there is a reason for this season and that is to get us ready for the season to come so the question remains are we ready for that season when it comes?

We live in a world that says that those who stand by Biblical values are wrong and the people’s way of thinking is the only way to follow. [Isaiah 5:20] We live in a world that has been taken over by the liberal brigade where people who live a sinful life are given preference over those who want to follow the Word of God. [Psalm 36:4]

We have abortion on demand and millions of babies have died throughout the world in the name of liberty. [Isaiah 29:15] Millions of people have died outside of the wars, in the name of liberation where the truth of God’s Word is not only being ignored but being destroyed in our Government, our schools and our universities. [Leviticus 25:17] Where is God’s truth in all of this? Where is the Gospel message? Where are we heading if all we do is abstain on the question: “Is the Word of God as important to people today as it was in the day it was written?” It is an interesting question in light of world events. God so loved the World [John 3:16] that He came down as man to put us on the right path. [John 10:1] Many Godly men and women have stood by the Word of God as being the truth that all of mankind needed and only needed, to obtain salvation. These men and women stood by the truth of the Word and in many cases died for it, as is happening today.

As the time of the Messiah’s return gets ever closer a dark cloud is once more trying to engulf the World. Jesus is the Light of the World and the darkness cannot overcome it, [John 8:12] try as it may. [Matthew 16:18] There is a light, a perfect light, a light that is shining the truth of God’s Word to the whole World, [Psalm 119:105] but the World prefers darkness. They who walk in the light will never walk in darkness, whereas those who walk in darkness will stumble and fall.  [Proverbs 2:13-18]

The sanctity of Jesus is all and is above all; the enemy may win the odd battle here or there but the war for our salvation is already won. [1 Corinthians 15:25]

God is still there and nobody can remove Him, they may remove Him from our schools and our governments, they may remove Him from every walk of life but they can never remove Him from our hearts. [Ezekiel 36:26] His truth marches on through the saints He has called to serve Him. It marches in every country in the world never to be stopped, as it follows the command of Jesus: Go forth and make disciples of all Believers. [Matthew 28:20] Disciples, followers of the Leader of the truth, that Jesus demonstrated to His Disciples. Everyone called by His name is called to do something to fulfill this command; some are called to serve as the support while others may be called to go. Whatever the role each has a purpose in taking the Word to those who have never heard it. [Mark 16:15] God’s Word is not to be locked up on the shelf for when He returns. [Luke 19:11-26] It is living and  active and is always trying to reach the lost and takes no delight in the loss of the wicked. [Ezekiel 33:11] It is a Word that cannot be contained by any individual; it is to be shared by all who want to listen. [1 Corinthians 1:18]

His Word brings life in all it’s meaning, it brings peace to the storm and it brings hope to the lost and the forgotten. It is life in itself. [John 10:10] This is the will of the Father and what we have been told to do; take this promise that we have in our lives and share it, wherever that may be.

Sometimes we do not know what the will

of the Father is unless we take a step into the unknown. But one thing I do know if nobody takes that step - like the people of the past - would we know about the truth here in the present, which is: Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death … and free whose who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. [Hebrews 2:14-15] This is the message of freedom that needs to go out to the whole World so that all can be set free from fear and take on the surety of hope. [Isaiah 6:6-8]
